Grace Mae Deacon, 80, of 606 S. First died this morning at 9:30 at her home. She had been in failing health two years and seriously ill the past six months.

Born in Adair County near Biggs on Oct. 10, 1886, she was the daughter of John T. and Nancy D. Moncrief Stribling. At LaPlata in 1907, she was married to Warner Deacon and to this marriage three children were born. Surviving are one sister, Mattie Wallen of 604 S. First, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, three children, all in infancy, five sisters and four brothers.

Mrs. Deacon spent most of her life in Kirksville and this vicinity. She operated a second-hand store at 608 S. First from 1949 until 1964 when she retired due to ill health.

She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church of Kirksville.

Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at three o'clock in the Foster Memorial Home. Elder Harold Miller, pastor of the Seventh Day Adventist Church will conduct the services. Burial will be in the Maple Hills cemetery.
