1899 - 1976
Gladys Ellen Cody, 76, of Brashear, Missouri was pronounced dead-on-arrival at the Mercer County Hospital in Aledo, Illinois. Mrs. Cody had gone to Illinois to visit friends.
Born October 26, 1899 in Monroe County, Iowa she was the daughter of David and Eliza Wilson Major. On February 17, 1921 at Kirksville she was married to Alfred Dale Cody who survives. Also surviving are one brother, Kenneth J. Major of the Shryack Apartments and one sister, Mima Adams of 414 W. Scott.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Lolla Walker; three brothers, Ora Major, Tillman Major and Ralph Major and one half-brother, Arch Herron.
For over 41 years Mrs. Cody had lived in the Brashear community. Before that time she had resided in Blakesburg, Iowa.
She was a member of the Baptist Church of Foster, Iowa.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Chapel in Brashear. The Rev. Beryl Cragg will officiate. Burial will be in the Maple Hills Cemetery at Kirksville.
Bearers will be her nephews.
