Ralph Longfellow Baldwin, 70, a farmer of 4 miles southwest of Hurdland, died at 9:25 o'clock Monday morning, Feb. 15, 1971, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy where he had been admitted a few hours earlier.

Funeral services were at 2 o'clock yesterday afternoon at the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Chapel in Edina with Elder Clyde O. Johnson of Green Castle officiating. Burial was in the Maple Hills Cemetery at Kirksville.

He is survived by his wife, a son, Wilbur Baldwin, of Marion, Iowa, three grandchildren, Danna Lynn, Brent and Craig Baldwin, a sister, Ethel, Mrs. Pearl May, of Chicago and two half-brothers, Ronald D. Baldwin of Fulton and Harry S. Baldwin of Kirksville.

Mr. Baldwin was born Dec. 6, 1900, in Knox County, a son and one of three children of Fred and Hattie Longfellow Baldwin, one of whom died in infancy. He was married May 23, 1923, at LaBelle, to Miss Thelma Irene Ray and they lived southeast of Edina for a time. They have lived at their present home since 1943. Mr. and Mrs. Baldwin were the parents of two sons, Wilbur, mentioned above, and Donald Ray Baldwin, who was killed during World War II, July 22, 1944, at 19 years of age.

He was also preceded in death by his mother, April 21, 1910, his father, Jan. 6, 1954, and his step-mother, Mrs. Carrie Scott Baldwin, April 12, 1968.
