Funeral services were held at the Steele Baptist Church, Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock for Scrap Chism, well known farmer, who died suddenly late Saturday afternoon. Services were conducted by Rev. W.H. Cook, pastor of the Steele Baptist Church and Steele I.O.O.F. Lodge No. 859 was in charge of graveside services.
Interment was at Mt. Zion Cemetery with the German Funeral Home in charge of funeral arrangements. Mr. Chism was 72 years of age.
Mr. Chism was born at Wolf Creek, Ky., and came to this community about 40 years ago. He was an ardent Democrat and always took an active part in elections, having at one time run successfully for Constable of this Township and was appointed Deputy Sheriff several times.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Bessie Chism of Steele; two sisters, Mrs. Robert Murphy and Mrs. Patt Parr, and one niece, Mrs. Hugh King, all of Wolf Creek.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon for Mrs. Scrap Chism, who died Wednesday at the Baptist Hospital in Memphis where she had been a patient for several weeks. The services were held at the Baptist church, with the pastor Rev. W.H. Cook in charge, assisted by the Rebecca lodge. Interment was in Mt. Zion Cemetery.
Mrs. Chism, who had been in bad health for some time, underwent an operation several weeks ago, but her death was attributed to pneumonia. She had lived at Steele for the past 38 years, coming here from Kentucky. She was a member of the Baptist Church and the Rebecca lodge.
She is survived by her husband and two daughters, Mrs. May Florence Kemp and Mrs. Dora Simmons of Indianapolis, Ind.
German Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
