The Rev. Bob Wiggins, assisted by Rev. Leland Stoops, conducted services in the John W. German Funeral Home Chapel Thursday afternoon for Mrs. Vicy Jane Townsend of Hayti. Burial was in Mt. Zion Cemetery at Steele.
The daughter of Joe and Cynthia Taylor, she was born in Parsons, Tenn., December 2, 1896, and died Tuesday, May 30, at Pemscot County Memorial Hospital at the age of 75. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church of Hayti.
On July 28, 1928, at Holland she was married to Robert Townsend, who survives. She also leaves two daughters, Mrs. Verdie York of Memphis and Mrs. Verline Cotner of Santa Ana, Calif.; one sister, Mrs Mary Taylor of Parsons; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Robert T. Townsend, a retired farmer, died January 15, 1975 at the Pemiscot County Memorial Hospital at Hayti at the age of 88.
Born October 15, 1886 in Tennessee, Mr. Townsend's funeral services were held Friday afternoon, January 17, at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of the John W. German Funeral Home at Hayti. The Rev. Lenard Wiliams of Hayti officiated.
Mr. Townsend leaves two step-daughters, Mrs. Virdie York, Memphis, and Mrs. Verlin Cotner, Garden Grove, Calif.; three brothers, Oscar Townsend, Milan, Tenn., Clint Townsend, Union City, Tenn. and Lenard Townsend, Holland; one sister, Emma Howell of Trenton, Tenn.; five step-grandchildren and five step great-grandchildren.
Intement was in the Mount Zion Cemetery at Steele with John W. German Funeral Home of Hayti in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers were James Cross, Lester Bailey, Alvin Reeves, Star McDaniel, Earl Gill and David Fullhart.
