Mrs. Lillian Radie Wilferd, 83, of Steele, died February 4, 1992 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Blytheville. Born February 23, 1908 in Clifton, Tenn., she was the daughter of Daniel Noah and Oneder Bell Turnbo Smith. A member of the Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church in Steele, she was the widow of Lester H. Wilferd and was also preceded in death by a brother, Cardinal Smith.

She is survived by two sons, Jack Wilferd of Tempe, Ariz., and Daniel Wilferd of Rockford, Ill.; two daughters, Mrs. Shirley Demarest of Bossier City, La., and Patricia Bliesner of Steele; a brother, Roscoe Smith of Ironton, Mo.; a sister, Mrs. Sarah Knuckles of Eureka Springs, Ark.; ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Services were February 7 at 1 p.m. at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, the Rev. Tom Zych officiating, with burial in Mt. Zion Cemetery, John W. German Funeral Home of Steele in charge.

Pallbearers were Terry and T. J. Wilferd, Joey Childers, Rodney Wilferd, Paul Stabbs and Minday Wilfered.

Lester H. Wilferd, born January 22, 1904, at Caruthersville, died February 6, 1974 at Pemiscot County Memorial Hospital in Hayti. He was 70 years old.

The son of the late William and Lula Berry Wilferd, he was a retired farmer.

Mr. Wilferd was married to Radie Smith at Blytheville September 16, 1926.

He leaves his widow, Mrs. Radie Wilferd, of Steele; two sons, Jack Wilferd of New Kensington, Pa., and Daniel Wilferd of Rockford, Ill.; two daughters, Mrs. Shirley Crosskno and Mrs. Patricia Bliesener, both of Steele; five brothers, Bill Wilferd of Battle Creek, Mich., Norvel Wilferd of Deland, Fla., Roy Wilferd of Panama Canal Zone, James Wilferd of Los Angeles, Ca, and J.L. Wilferd of Oakland, Ca.; one sister, Mrs. Olive Pierce of Hayward, Ca., and 13 grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Friday, February 8, 1974, at 2:00 p.m. at the Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church in Steele with the Reverend V. Carl Hickman of Steele and the Reverend Joe Aldridge of Blytheville officiating.

Burial was in the Mount Zion Cemetery at Steele with John W. German Funeral Home of Steele in charge.

Pallbearers were Frank Copeland, Gardner Norrid, Reginald Watkins, Tommy German, Harbert Hudgens, and Pat Harris.
