Opal Marie Hicks, 85, of Willow Springs, Missouri died June 30, 2014 at Willow Care Nursing Home, Willow Springs. She was born April 21, 1929 in Winona, Missouri, the daughter of Claude Francis and Grace Lavada (Brawley) Haynes.
Visitation will be Thursday July 3, 2014, 1:00p.m. – 2:00p.m. at Blue Buck Full Gospel Church. Funeral Services will be Thursday July 3, 2014, 2:00PM at Blue Buck Full Gospel Church. Interment will be at Willow Springs City Cemetery.
Opal was united in marriage to Charles Bentley Hicks on May 22, 1946 in Eminence, Missouri. To this union three children were born, Danny Joe, Carol, and Linda Sue.
Opal is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bentley; one brother, Charles Haynes; and two grandchildren, Darlene and Ladonna.
She is survived by one son, Danny Joe Hicks and wife, Beth, of Willow Springs; two daughters, Carol Collins and husband, Paul, and Linda Sue Cain and husband, Lonnie, all of Willow Springs; two brothers, Vernon Haynes and wife, Joyce, and Marvin Haynes and wife, Virginia, all of Winona, MO; one sister, Dorothy Grueter of Cabool, MO; one sister-in-law, Christine Haynes of Winona, MO; eight grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
Opal was a member of Blue Buck Full Gospel Church in Willow Springs. She was a seamstress, artist, carpenter, and a wonderful cook. She could “do anything”.
