Samuel L. Wagster, pioneer resident of Pemiscot County, passed away last Friday, November 20, 1953, at the Blytheville, Ark. Hospital.

Mr. Wagster was born October 15, 1874, in Gibson County, Tennessee, and came to this community at Cottonwood Point in 1902, and lived there until 1917. He then moved to Cooter, where he resided until death. Mr. Wagster was a member of the Methodist Church for 66 years. He passed away at the age of 79 years, 1 month and 5 days and was a retired merchant.

Funeral services were conducted from the Methodist Church at Cooter, Sunday afternoon, November 22, at 2:30 o'clock. Rev. Marvin Niblack officiated and interment was at Mt. Zion cemetery. German Funeral Home had charge of arrangements. The Steele Oddfellows Lodge was in charge of graveside services.

Survivors are: his wife, Mrs. Hautie Wagster of Cooter; two sons, Sammie, Jr., and Dallas of Cooter; two daughters, Mrs. Eddie Martin, Sr., of Steele and Mrs. Lydia Hicks of Orlando, Fla.; 15 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren; two brothers, O.C. Wagster of Cooter and Luther Wagster of Newburn, Tenn.; and four sisters, Mrs. Azzlee Neil of Cooter, Mrs. Madge Notgrass of Roellen, Tenn., Mrs. Linnie Akins of Dyer, Tenn.; and Mrs. Grace Denton of Chaffee, Mo.
