Charles M. Dummit

Charles Marion Dummit, 71, of New Port Richey, Fla., died following open heart surgery May 13, at 6:30 a.m. in Bayonet Point Medical Heart Institute. Born on March 4, 1933, in Monett, Mo., he attended Aurora gradeschool and high school, before serving as a sergeant in the U.S. Air Force from 1950 to 1952. He worked primarily as a plant manager in the garment industry for 25 years. Later, he opened up his own retail clothing store in Hessmer, La., and again in Branson, Mo. He has resided in Florida for the past two years.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia Murphy Polley Dummit; five daughters, Rhonda D. Squires of Brighton, Colo., Linda J. Rivers of Ma r ion, Ark., Cynthia J. Baragona of Slidell, La., Elizabeth Charlene Lee of Denver, and Constance A. Ferdon of Springfield; three stepchildren, Bill Polley of Tampa, Mike Polley of St. Clair, Mo., and Tracy Schriber; 12 grandchildren, Isaac A. and Rebekah D. Squires, Robert M., David W., Adam P., Michael J., and Thomas L. Rivers, Andy C. and Corey M. Baragona ,Karen E. Lee, and Kathryn D. and Hannah N. Ferdon; four
step-grandchildren, Garry and Brittany Polley, Danielle and Mandy Schriber; a great-grandchild, Cade J. Rivers; and ex-wife Wanda Williams Dummit Glaser of Aurora.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dolly Gladys Taylor and Lloyd Arthur Dummit; his brothers, Arthur and Harold Dummit; and his sisters, Joyce Fields and Wilma Grider. Friends, classmates and relatives are invited to attend this celebration of his life. A memorial service will be held at Peterson Funeral Home, 229 W. Church St., Aurora, MO, on Saturday at 11 a.m. Viewing will begin at 10 a.m. Interment will be in Maple Pa rk Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Robert Marion Rivers, David Wayne Rivers, Adam Paul Rivers, Andy Charles Baragona, Corey Mathew Baragona and Isaac Austin Squires. Honorary pallbearers are Bill Polley, Randal Baragona, Dan Murphy and Robert Rivers.
