Helen J. (Hilburn) Staponski, age 64, of Monett, Missouri, passed away Friday, March 14, 2008, in Monett Health Care Center, Monett, Missouri.
She was born July 24, 1943, in Butterfield, Missouri, the daughter of William H. Hilburn and Lona M. (Richardson) Hilburn. On January 10, 1975, in Mt. Vernon, Missouri, she was united in marriage to Johnny Staponski, who preceded her in death on November 25, 1999. She was also preceded in death by her parents; one son, Larry Gastorf and two brothers, Charles and Samuel Hilburn.
She is survived by four daughters, Lona Burtchett and her husband, Tim of Monett, Edna Wake and her husband, James of Billings, Missouri, Tammy Hollesen and her husband, Shawn of Shell Knob, Missouri and Crystal Howard and her husband, Scott of Joplin, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Blake, Amanda, Tyler, Dalton, Pake, Andrew and Maddison; three sisters, Ruth Lakey, Rhoda Balch and Linda Coones all of Cassville, Missouri and seven brothers, Jim Hilburn of Exeter, Missouri, Ralph Hilburn, Clyde Hilburn and Wayne Hilburn all of Cassville, John Hilburn of Wyandotte, Oklahoma, Harvey Hilburn of Winslow, Arkansas and Jerry Hilburn of Cassville.
Helen received her education at Butterfield and moved to Oregon, where she lived for a while. From Oregon, she moved to Monett, living there several years. In 1986 she moved to Cassville, where she remained until four years ago, when she entered Monett Health Care. She had been a cook for Fasco and also the Rainbow Motel several years.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, March 17, 2008, in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Pastor Charles Lauderdale will conduct the services. Burial will be in Russell Cemetery, Butterfield.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 6:00 P.M. Sunday in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville.
