Mrs. Martin Jeffreys, age 38 years, and three children, Rufus Edward, age 8, Carrie Joan, age 13 days and Dorla Deane, age 3 years, of the Number 8 vicinity, have died within the past few days from measles and pneumonia. The first to succumb was Dorladean on January 13, 1933, then the mother on January 18, and while funeral services were being conducted at the cemetery for her, the little 8 year old son, Rufus Edward, died and two days later, the infant daughter, Carrie Joan died. The remains were laid to rest in the Number 8 Cemetery and short funeral services for each one was conducted by Rev. J.B. Copeland.
The surviving members of the family are the husband and father, Mart Jeffreys, four daughters and sisters: Eula Mae, Florence, Geraldine and Martha, one son and brother, William. Mrs. Jeffreys is also survived by her mother, Mrs. Miranda Lewis Jeffreys, of Hamilton, Ala.; three brothers, Clovis, Carl and Rufus Lewis, of Number 8; three sisters, Mrs. Doshie Clifton, Mrs. Ethel Stanford, of Number 8 and Mrs. Lula Belk, of Hamilton, Ala.
Mr. Jeffreys and other members of the family have also been critically ill from the same malady, but are at this time slowly recovering.

BLYTHEVILLE, Ark.-Geraldine Jeffreys, eight-year-old daughter of M.A. Jeffreys of the Number Eight community in Pemiscot county, Mo., was admitted to the Blytheville hospital Thursday, suffering from an attack of pneumonia.
Funeral services were held yesterday at Number Eight for Miss Florence Jeffreys, 17-year-old sister of Geraldine, who was killed in a Highway 61 accident near here Monday night.
Geraldine's mother and three brothers and sisters died of pneumonia during a three weeks period two years ago.
Miss Eula Jefferys, a sister, is a student nurse at the Blytheville hospital.--Blytheville Courier

Cooter, Mo.-Funeral services were held at No. 8 community Saturday afternoon for William Jeffries of near Blytheville, who formerly lived here and who died Thursday at his home. It was reported that his death was caused by drinking a large quantity of Lysol. The reason for the tragedy was not learned here.
Mr. Jeffries, who was about 30 years old, had lived around Cooter all of his life until recently. For some time he was employed as Watkin's Dealer in this territory.
He is survived by his wife and two small children.
Burial was made in the No. 8 cemetery.
