Funeral services were conducted at 10 o'clock Wednesday morning at the Baptist church in Cooter for Mrs. Susan Alice Ennis, 67, who died at her home in Cooter at midnight Monday. The Rev. Fred C. Walker conducted the service and burial was in No. 8 cemetery. She lived 33 years of her life in Cooter.
Mrs. Ennis died after a week's illness of a gall bladder affection and had been suffering from high blood pressure for several years. Her husband, Bud Ennis, died December 21, 1932.
Mrs. Ennis was born in Newbern, Tenn., in 1875, a daughter of William Lacey and Margaret Jenkins Lacy. She was married to C.S. (Bud) Ennis on October 1, 1896, at Dyersburg, Tenn. Three sons and a daughter were born to them.
Ivan G. Ennis was born in Dyersburg, where Mrs. Ennis' husband was an employe of the Illinois Central Railroad. In 1900 she and her family moved to Holland, where Alice Ennis and Ralph Ennis were born. Another son, Debs Ennis, died on December 30, 1921.
The family moved to Cooter where Mr. Ennis continued farming, as he had done in Holland. Mrs. Ennis continued to live in Cooter until she died.
In 1911 she joined the Baptist Church and the Royal Neighbors order. Mrs. Ennis was active in church work and at the time of her death was an officer in the lodge.
Mrs. Ennis is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Alice Chambers of Cooter; two sons, Ivan Ennis of St. Louis and Ralph Ennis of Caruthersville; two sisters, Mr. M.D. Ennis of Booth's Point, Tenn., and Mrs. Maggie Cassidy; and a brother, Will Lacy, the latter two living at Jackson, Mich. There are also five grandchildren.

Christopher S. Ennis, age 72, died Wednesday at his home in Cooter from heart trouble. Mr. Ennis was a highly respected citizen of south Pemiscot County, was a member of the Steele I.O.O.F. Lodge, and also was a member of the Cooter Baptist Church.
The deceased was born at Fredericktown, Mo., moving to this part of Pemiscot County 31 years ago. He is survived by his wife; one daughter, Ms. Ellis Chambers; two sons: Ivan and Ralph; and by three children of a former marriage; several other near relatives and a host of friends.
The German Undertaking Co., of this city, was in charge of funeral arrangements. Services were held Thursday at 10 o'clock at the Cooter Baptist Church, conducted by Rev E.G Stephenson of Holland Baptist Church, and assisted by Rev. R.O. Ekrut, of Cooter Baptist Church, and Rev. H.W. Doss, of Steele M.E. Church. The services at the grave were conducted by the I.O.O.F. Lodge. The pall and flower bearers were also members of the I.O.O.F.
The funeral was largely attended by friends and the many beautiful flowers all attested to the high esteem in which Mr. Ennis was held.
Interment was made in the Number Eight Cemetery.
