Funeral services for Clarence Lee Kelley, 54, of Route 2, LaPlata will be held Friday afternoon November 28, 1980 at 1 o'clock in the Hudson-Rimer Park View Chapel, Kirksville. The Rev. Archie Cooper will conduct the services. Burial will be in the Union Cemetery at Gibbs.
Mr. Kelley was killed Monday evening November 24, 1980 when his pickup truck was struck by a freight train on the Santa Fe railroad tracks two miles west of Gibbs.
Born July 15, 1926 in Adair County, he was the son of Orval F. and Ethel Watson Kelley. On November 23, 1949 at Kirksville he married Jennell Gonnerman who survives. Also surviving are his parents of Gibbs; one son, James Lee Kelley of rural Centerville, Iowa; one grandson, Andrew Lee Kelley; one brother, Lloyd Kelley of Gibbs and one sister, Dr. Mary Bruns of St. Louis.
Mr. Kelley spent most of his life in the Gibbs area where he was engaged in farming.
Casket bearers will be Ivan Clarkson, Russell Watson, Wilson Stribling, Ricky Brown, Gary Moyers and Rex Meline.
