RALPH BURRIS
A life-long Bucklin area resident, Ralph Burris, 69, died unexpectedly Monday evening at his Bucklin home on Belle Ave.. Funeral services will be Thursday, Mar. 16, at Louis V. Scudiero & Sons Funeral Chapel in Bucklin. Burial will be in High Hill Cemetery, southeast of Bucklin.
Ralph Harold, son of William Sherman and Mary Susan (Ray) Burris, was born June 29, 1919 in Linn County, near Bucklin. On Nov. 25, 1938 he was united in marriage to Eva Mae Holt in Bucklin. She died Sept. 24, 1970.
Surviving are two sons, Harold Dean Burris and Richard Vernie Burris, both of the home; two daughters, Patricia Ann Deatsch and Brenda Sue Allen, both of Iowa City, Iowa; one brother, Ray Burris of Brookfield; two sisters, Sylvia Bean of Clarence, and Minnie DePriest of Boise City, Oklahoma; four grandchildren, Victoria Deatsch of Tuffin, Iowa, Rogenia Burris of Marceline, George Robert Deatsch and Marvin Harold Deatsch, both of Iowa City, Iowa; three great-grandchildren, Coletta Deatsch and Danelle Deatsch of Iowa City, Iowa, and Alysha Deatsch of Tuffin, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; five brothers, Raymond, Vernie, Dan, Charley, and an infant brother; three sisters, Mildred Burris, Nora Johnson, and Clara Davolt. Mr. Burris had lived his entire life in the Bucklin community where he was a member of the Bucklin Christian Church. He had been employed 17 years with the Bucklin Grain Company. He had served as Bucklin City Marshall for 20 years, was a school bus driver, and early in life, a coal miner.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during WWII.

Funeral services for Mrs. Eva Mae Burris, 47 of Bucklin, were held Sunday afternoon at the Larson Scudiero Chapel. Burial was in the High Hill Cemetery, southeast of Bucklin.
Eva Mae, daughter of Perry David and Hester June (Foster) Holt, was born Jan. 31, 1923 in Linn County, near Bucklin, and died Sept. 24, 1970 at the Pershing Memorial Hospital after a long illness.
On Nov. 25, 1938, she was united in marriage to Ralph Harold Burris of Bucklin. She is survived by her husband, Ralph; two sons, Harold Dean Burris and Richard Vernie Burris, both of Bucklin; two daughters, Brenda Sue Burris of Bucklin, and Mrs. Patricia Ann Deatsch of Iowa City, Iowa; her mother, Mrs. Hester Holt of Brookfield; one brother, Floyd Holt of Brookfield; one sister, Mrs. Ethel Admire of Brookfield; and three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father; two brothers, Estil Holt and Luther Holt; and one sister, Mrs. Edna Fanning.
