Charles F Crawford, 60, of 503 W. Elizabeth, was found dead at his home at 7:45 this morning. Mr. Crawford had been in failing health, with emphysema, however, death was unexpected.
The son of Harry and Birdella Mahoney Crawford, he was born March 10, 1918 at Powersville. On Feb 14, 1959, in Kirksville, he married Elva Van Hoose, who survives. Also surviving are three step-sons, Ronnie Long of Lowell, Ohio, John Long of Kansas City, and Richard Long of Route 2 Kirksville; one stepdaughter Judy Bennett of Traynor, Iowa; two brothers, Lee Crawford of Hurdland and Leo Crawford of Edina Mo; Five sisters, Mrs. Richard (Ida) Hunter of Unionville, Goldie Burch of 1114 N. Centennial, Mrs Orval (Anna Lorine)Wood of 707 E. McPherson, Mrs Kenneth (Bonnie) Smith of Quincy Ill, and Lucille Gentry of Fridley, Minn and 12 step grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
Mr Crawford was a lifelong resident of Adair County. He was engaged in farming for several years and was later employed by service stations. Three years ago he retired due to ill health.
During World War II he served with the United States Army Air Force.
He was a member of the VFW
Afternoon Friday, the body will be at the Foster Memorial Home, where funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon (July 15, 1978) at 2 o'clock. Archie Cooper will conduct the services. Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery. Bearers will be members of the VFW.
