JAMES
Isaac James was born in Pickaway, Co., OHIO, Sep 4th, 1882 and died Feb 10th, 1901, in Kirksville, Mo., aged 69 years, 5 months, 6 days.
He had been ill for some weeks of typhoid fever. When 18 years of age he migrated with his parents to Lee Co., Iowa. He was married to Miss Nancy Dean, who survives him, at Demark, Lee Co., Iowa, Jan 1st, 1867. Fifteen children were born to this union; three died in infancy and twelve are still living. Ten of these were present the day of the funeral. The others reside, one in Colorado; one in Nebraska, and were unable to be present.
Mr. and Mrs. James settled in Adair County, near Bullion, is the spring of 1871, and his name is grateful recollection among all our citizens. Seven years ago he was converted to God and united with the Methodist Episcopal Church. He was a conscientious and devout Christian.
For a year he seemed to think his time was short and lived in waiting for the summons. The funeral was held on Monday at 11 o’clock by the pastor of the church, and he was laid to rest in Highland Cemetery.
