Mrs. Martha Pinkerton, formerly of Kirksville, died in Louisville, Ky., yesterday morning at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Claude Garrison. She was 77 years old September 16 and has been in failing health the past year.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock. The body is being brought to Kirksville and will lie in state tomorrow evening and Saturday morning at the Davis Funeral Home. Burial will be at the Pinkerton Cemetery, west of Kirksville.

Mrs. Pinkerton was born in Schuyler County and until the past year lived in and near Kirksville. Her husband, Thomas Pinkerton, of Kirksville preceded her in death. Surviving her are: two children, Mrs. Garrison and Leo Pinkerton, of Elgin ILL.: two grandchildren, Mrs. Fred Palmer, of Louisville, Ky., and Alva Lee Pinkerton, air cadet stationed at Brooks Field, Tex.; and four sisters, Mrs. Maggie Steven, of Los Angeles; Mrs. Lyda Pinkerton, of Texas; Mrs. Julia Bright, of Lewistown, MO.; and Mrs. Nellie Cameron, of Aurora, Illinois.
