SIKESTON — Delphia C. Day, 71, of 823 Greer St. and formerly of Matthews, died at 1:30 p.m. July 27, 1989, at Sikeston Health Care Facility.

Born March 30, 1918, in New Madrid County to the late Charlie and Mamie Mae Black Adams, she lived in New Madrid County most of life and was a member of the Little Vine Baptist Church at rural Matthews.
On Dec. 9, 1933, she married Henry C. Day, who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: four sons, Alvin Day, Henry C. Day Jr. and Joe Day of Fenton and Johnny Day of Downey, Calif.; three daughters, Faye Byassee of Phoenix, Ariz., Carolyn Hunt of Fenton and Doris Chunn of Sikeston; and 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Friends may call after 10 a.m. Saturday at McMikle Funeral Home in East Prairie, where services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday. The Rev. Vernon Self, pastor of Little Vine General Baptist Church, will officiate.
Burial will be in Dogwood Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: Joe Pace, James Day, Andy Norman, Robert Skaggs, Roy Day and Carl Simmons.

Henry Clayton Day

Funeral services for Henry Clayton Day, 87, a resident of Sikeston, formerly of New Madrid County, will be conducted Friday, October 31, 1997 at 2 p.m. at the Shelby Funeral Chapel in East Prairie, with Bro. Bob Burnes, pastor of the House of Prayer General Baptist Church near Sikeston, officiating. Burial will follow in the Dogwood Cemetery near East Prairie.

Mr. Day died Tuesday, October 28, at 2 p.m. at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston. He was born September 28, 1910 in New Madrid County, son of the late John and Rhoda Cooper Day. He had lived in New Madrid County most of his life, moving to Sikeston in 1989.

He was a retired farmer and a member of the Little Vine Baptist Church near Matthews. On May 11, 1935, he married Delphia Adams, who preceded him in death on July 25, 1989.

Survivors include four sons: Alvin Day, Henry Clayton Day, Jr., both of Fenton, John Charles Day of Downey, CA and Joe Day of Arnold; three daughters, Fay Byassee of East Prairie, Carolyn Hunt of Fenton, and Doris Chunn of Sikeston; one brother, Charles Day of Sikeston; and one sister, Eugenia Pritchett of East Prairie, 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grand-children.

In addition to his with, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Johnny, James and Calvin Day; and one sister, Ethello Simpkins.
