Elizabeth "Betty" Mitchell, 93, of Raymore, MO passed away on March 20, 2016 at Belton Regional Medical Center from complications of congestive heart failure. At her side were son Mike and daughter-in law Sally Mitchell. Betty was born on Oct. 21, 1922 in Willow Springs, MO, the last of 13 children. She graduated from Willow Springs High School. She was preceded in death by her husband Russell E. Mitchell in 2008 after more than 65 years of marriage. They lived in the Kansas City area or West Plains, MO most of their married life. Betty was active in the music ministry at various churches where she loved singing in choirs and ladies' quartets and teaching girls Sunday school. She was a member of South Haven Baptist Church. Additional survivors include sister Billie Shelton of Springfield, three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, various nieces and nephews, and sons Dan and Mark. Per Mom and Dad's request, cremation and no formal funeral. Graveside service and internment in Howell Memorial Gardens, Pomona, MO at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to South Haven Baptist Church, 16800 Bel Ray Blvd, Belton, MO 64012. Arr: Park Lawn 816-523-1234. [Kansas City Star, Mar 28, 2016]
