Betty Jean Williams, age 86, of Shell Knob, Missouri, passed away Monday, October 17, 2016, at Circle of Life Legacy Village in Bentonville, Arkansas.
She was born July 21, 1930 in Pritchett, Colorado the daughter of Hosea and Ethel (Riddle) Ellis. In 1952 in Garfield, Arkansas she was united in marriage to Harold Ray Williams who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were her parents and one sister, Clara Ellen.
Surviving are two sons, Mark Williams of Rogers, Arkansas and Mike Williams of Westville, Oklahoma; one daughter, Debora Williams and her husband Matthew Jones of Shell Knob, Missouri; two sisters, Sharon Wood of Pea Ridge, Arkansas and Barbara Merritt and her husband Allen of Rogers, Arkansas; grandchildren, Dakota Williams and his wife Christina of Shattuck, Oklahoma and Tristan Williams of Westville, Oklahoma.
Betty graduated high school in Canon, Colorado. She grew up riding horses at a young age and continued her love of horses and riding until she was seventy eight years old. She loved the outdoors and always had a beautiful flower garden. Her church was very important to her serving in the card ministry, working wherever she was needed and especially “Operation Christmas Child”. She was known as the “Bread Lady” keeping neighbors, church dinners, and friends well supplied with hot rolls, sweet rolls or fresh homemade bread.
She spent most of her life as a homemaker but for eleven years she enjoyed working at Walmart.
Funeral services will be held 1:30 P.M. Wednesday, October 19, 2016, at the First Baptist Church in Shell Knob under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Shell Knob. Pastor Bob Gaddis will conduct the services. Burial will be in Mikeman Cemetery, Shell Knob.
Contributions may be made to Shell Knob First Baptist Church or Circle of Life, Legacy Village in memory of Betty.
