Barker Cemetery
Newton County,
Missouri

Established 1843
"Here is unmarked graves lie George Barker and his first wife Leah and second Martha. Doubtless some of Martha's 13 slaves were buried here before emancipation. Free from the stigma of slavery descendants of both families were buried here into the late 1900's."
The cemetery was restored and new markers placed by George and Andrew Barker who "Respectfully worked together for the common good of all"

Known burials that do not have individual headstones as of when this cemetery was photographed. There may be some headstones that were overlooked in the brush or are buried under the soil. The cemetery was mowed and the fence was in good repair when last visited.
