Funeral services for Robert B. DePriest, who lived on Rfd. 3, near Steele, were held at the Baptist church in Steele last Saturday, August 2, at 10:30 a.m. by the Rev. W.H. Cook, with interment following in Mt. Zion cemetery near Steele. He was a veteran of World War II and graveside services were conducted by Steele Memorial Post No. 7889 V.F.W.
Mr. DePriest was born August 13, 1911 at Linden, Tenn., but had spent practically all his life farming in the Steele community. He was almost 41 at the time of his death.
He is survived by his wife, Esther and three sons and four daughters in his immediate family, who are; Robert E., Donald Lee and Joe Leslie DePriest, all of the Steele community; Mrs. Jack McNabb Jr of Kennon, Calif. and Misses Lucille, Barbara Lou and Rachel DePriest, of the home--also one grandson. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. Willie DePriest, residents of Caruthersville, survive, also two brothers and four sisters, William Lee of Dexter, Glen DePriest of Caruthersville; Lillie DePriest, Mrs. Earl Denton and Mrs. T.J. Vaughn, all of this city and Mrs. Edward Ferrell of Hayti.
Mr. DePriest's death, which was due to a high blood pressure condition, occurred at the Kennedy Veterans hospital in Memphis on Wednesday, July 30.
German Funeral Home at Steele had charge of arrangements.
