Betty Jean Jones, a lifelong resident of Willow Springs, passed away while surrounded by her family after a lengthy illness, Sunday, April 18, 2010, while at Ozarks Medical Center in West Plains. Born March 13, 1927, to Ebb and Gertrude (Cox) Nease, she was 83 years old.
Betty was married to Jack L. Jones on Nov. 10, 1957. To this union, two sons were born. For more than 42 years, Betty was employed by State Bank of Willow Springs, which later became US Bank. Betty and her husband, Jack, owned and operated Jones Candy Company, where she was the office manager and bookkeeper from 1954 to 1992 when she became ill. Betty was described by her family as a devout Christian. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Willow Springs. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters-in-law, Maxine Girdley and Pearl Jones; four brothers-in-law, Ernest Girdley, Speck Jones, Kak Jones and Gerld Jones.
Betty is survived by her husband, Jack L. Jones of Willow Springs; her two sons, Craig Jones and his wife June of Chesterfield, MO, and Larry Jones of Willow Springs. She is further survived by her five grandchildren, Molly, Tim, Kayla, Tamirah and Jaime; and one great-grandson Paul. She is further survived by her brother, Elbert Nease and his wife Donna of Oswego, IL; two sisters-in-law, Barbara Tyler and her husband Nelson, and Jean Jones, all of Springfield. She will further be missed by a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral sesrvices will be held Wednesday, April 21, at 10 a.m., in the First Baptist Church, located at North Harris and Fifth Streets, Willow Springs. Burial will follow Wednesday's service at the Howell Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of willow Funeral Home. [Howell County News, April 21, 2010]
