Louie L. Jones, age 81, of Marion, formerly of West Plains, MO, passed away at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 15, 2004, in Heartland Regional Medical Center of Marion.
He was born near Energy on Nov. 19, 1922, the son of W.E. and Ella Mae (Foster) Jones.
Louie answered the call of the nation on March 13, 1943, by serving in the United States Army during WW II. After his time of service was over, he was honorably discharged on Nov. 3, 1945, and returned back to the Marion area.
He was later united in marriage to Irene Kethcart on Sept. 5, 1948, in Marion. Together they shared nearly 43 years of marriage until her death came on April 24, 1992.
Louie's working career was always in the construction field. He worked as a concrete foundation carpenter, overseeing the pouring of concrete foundations and footings of new construction until his retirement after a longtime career.
He was of the Protestant faith. Some of his other current memberships include being a lifetime member of Heyde-Pillow VFW Post No. 1301 of Marion and a lifetime member of the Masonic Lodge of Goreville.
He is survived by a host of nieces, nephews, other family members; along with many friends including special friend, Marie Hewitt of Marion. He will be missed by all who knew him but will always be remembered in their hearts.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; three sisters, Maggie Hobbs, Madge Adkins and Mae Miller; and four brothers, Elza, Leo, Roscoe and Bennie Jones.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home, 900 N. Court St., Marion.
The visitation will be held on Saturday morning, April 17, between the hours of 10 a.m. and 12 noon at Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home of Marion.
Following the visitation, military honors will be provided at the funeral home by Heyde-Pillow VFW Post No. 1301 of Marion.
This will conclude the services in Marion and Mr. Jones will then be taken back to his home area of West Plains, Mo.
Visitation will be held after 1 p.m. on Sunday, April 18, with the funeral service scheduled at 2 p.m., in the Rose Chapel of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home of West Plains, Mo. with the Rev. Duane Flood presiding.
Interment will follow next to his wife, Irene, in Howell Memorial Park Cemetery of West Plains, Mo.
