Betty Jane Jarred, 64, of Steele, Mo., died Sunday, February 21, 1999 at the Lucy Lee Hospital in Poplar Bluff, Mo.
Born Friday, July 20, 1934 in Steele, she was the daughter of the late Lee and Martha Stillwell Lawhorn. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Rhonda Presnell, a step-daughter, Joyce Benson, a grandson, John R. Hensley II and a sister, Louise Carter.
Betty was united in marriage to Clarence Henry Jarred on February 10, 1960 in Blytheville, Ark. He perceded her in death.
She worked for Visiting Nurse Association as a home health aide and was a member of the Pentecostal Church of God.
Mrs. Jarred leaves two sons: John Roland Hensley and his wife Rosa of Holland, Mo. and Dallas Nolan Jarred and his wife Lavonda of Steele; four daughters: Karen Sue Dodd of Marmaduke, Ark., Lisa Marie Barron, Tammy Jane Crawford and her husand Lee, all of Steele, and Devona Gale Crockett and her husband Bruce of Minot, N. Dak.; two grandsons whom she raised: John E. Hensley and his wife Juanita of Steele and Bryanne Presnell and his wife Jeanette of Fayetteville, N.C.; four step-childen: Don Jarred of Kennett, Mo., Dennis Jarred of Greensboro, N.C., Denise Butler of Dyersburg, Tenn., and Judy Williams of Cincinnati, Ohio; one brother, Jack Lawhorn of St. Louis, Mo.; one sister, Tommie Durr of Greenville, Mo.; 25 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mrs. Jarred were held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 23, 1999 at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Steele with Rev. Gary Andrews officiating.
Burial was at the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Steele with Bradhsaw Funeral Home in charge.
Pallbearers were Todd Mays, James Mays, Gary Jarred, Steve Ragins, Gary Ward and Kris Robinson.
