Floyd Cross, 79, died December 2, 1988 at Hayti, Mo. Son of the late Will and Martha Bone Cross, he was born August 26, 1909 at Atkins, Ark. He was a retired diesel mechanic and attended the Pentecost Church.

On October 14, 1935 he married Inez McVay at Atkins.

He leaves his wife, Mrs. Inez Cross, of Steele, Mo.; three sons: Billy Cross of Mountain Grove, Mo. and Donald Cross and Bennie Cross, both of Steele; two daughters: Lucille Heathcock and Sharon Robertson, both of Steele; four sisters; Lillie Cossey of Russellville, Ark., and Audrey Burkhead, Zadie Cross and Clessie Burkhead, all of Steele; a brother, Troy Cross, of California; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

One son, Kenneth, three brothers and five sisters preceded him in death.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Loyd Adams from German-Aumon Funeral Home Chapel in Steele, Monday, December 5, 1988 at 2:00 p.m.

Burial was at Mount Zion Cemetery in Steele with arrangements by German-Aumon Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were James Pruitt, J. L. Dildine, Weldon Dodd, Pinky Ashcraft, Bill Smithson, and Rodney Pitts.

Inez Cross, 91, of Steele, died Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2011 in Steele.
Born Nov. 23, 1919 in Atkins, Ark., she is the daughter of the late Riley Nelson McVay and Ona McElroy McVay.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Lucille Heathcock; one son, Kenneth Cross; two grandsons, Michael Cross and Collin Johnson; three brothers: Cloes, Bud and J.C. McVay; one sister, Bernell Walters; and her best friend Jerlene Archer.
Inez was united in marriage to Floyd Cross on Oct. 15, 1935 in Atkins. He preceded her in death.
Many will remember Inez working at the Oasis Cafe and The Golden Girls.
She loved gardening and cooking for her family and friends.
Mrs. Cross leaves three sons; Billy and Erma Cross of Mt. Grove, Mo., Donald and Sandra Cross of Cooter and Benny Cross of Steele; One daughter, Sharon and Danny Robertson, of Steele; Three brothers: Bobby, Od and Nelson McVay of California; Eight grandchildren: Vicki Cameron, Lesa Evilsizor, Todd and Anthony Cross, Phillip Cross and Deanna, Leigh Ann Cross, Scotty Robertson and Kristi, Linda Hutto and Donna Mushrush: Eight great-grandchildren: Desmond Lewis and Jennifer, Jason Cameron, Crystal Hardy, Angie Cross, Dawn Cross, Jett Robertson, Slade Robertson and Scotty Johnson; and Six great-great-grandchildren: Isaac, Jordan, Caleb and Levi Hardy, Ava Lewis and Creek Johnson.
Funeral services for Mrs. Cross were held at 1 p.m., Friday, Aug. 19 at the Assembly of God Church in Steele with Rev. Glyn Davis and Rev. Rodney Presley officiating.
Burial was at the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Steele with Powell Funeral Home of Steele in charge of services.
Pallbearers were Scotty Robertson, Jay Cliff, Jason Cameron, Todd Evilsizor, Phillip Cross and Justin Henry.
