Funeral services were held, December 14, 1978 at the German-Aumon Funeral Home Chapel for Levi Howell, 65. Rev. Tommy Day and Rev. Gilbert Hollandsworth officiated.
Mr. Howell was born November 12, 1913 in Wayne County, Tenn., and died December 11, 1978 at the Pemiscot Memorial Medical Center in Hayti.
He leaves his wife, Verna Powell Howell of the home; five children: Milton Howell and Robert Howell, both of Groveland, Fla., Dola Lack of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; Paulette Forbess of Memphis, Tenn.; and Ronnie Howell of Lexington, Tenn.; one brother, A.B. Howell, of Waynesboro, Tenn.; two sisters: Clara Bridges of Clifton, Tenn.; and Ruth Lidecker of Niles, Mich.; 11 grandchilden and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Dan Day, Ernie Harrison, Edgar Sanders, Frank Castell, Frank Dudney, and Jessie Allison.
Burial was in the Sam Hamra Memorial Garden in Mount Zion Cemetery with the German-Aumon Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Verna LuJean Powell Howell, 86, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., died Friday, October 4, 2002 at the Westwood Hills Healthcare in Poplar Bluff.
Born Wednesday, October 4, 1916, in Holland, Mo., she was the daughter of the late James Franklin Powell and Ola Mae Sample Powell. She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Paulette Howell; one grandson, Wayland Lack; seven brothers: J. R. Powell, Rachel Powell, Ed Powell, Truman Powell, Arnold Powell, Hershell Powell, and Hillard Powell.
Verna was united in marriage to Levi Howell on August 10, 1935 in Wayne County, Tenn. He preceded her in death.
She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.
Mrs. Howell leaves three sons: James Milton Howell of Florida, Robert David Howell of Sweet Water, Tenn., and Ronnie Eugene Howell of Steele, Mo.; one daughter, Dola Jean Lack, of Poplar Bluff; one sister, Mary McClanahan, of Blytheville, Ark.; two brothers; Clifford Powell and Bobby Powell of Steele; 12 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mrs. Howell were at 1:30 p.m., Sunday, October 6, 2002 at the Bradshaw-Powell Funeral Home Chapel in Steele with Rev. Charles Clark officiating.
Burial was at the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Steele with Bradshaw-Powell Funeral Home of Steele in charge.
Pallbearers were Erik Howell, Jerry Grissom, Kenneth Lack, Chad Burton, Jason Burton, and Nick Burton.
