Herbert H. Truitt, 78, of 1008 N. Luther St. died at 6:11 a.m. Saturday (April 25, 1987) at Kirksville Osteopathic Medical Center where he had been a patient one day.

The son of Otis and Ellen Truitt, he was born Oct. 20, 1908 in Kirksville. In 1941 at Kirksville, he married Nina Conley who survives.

Also surviving are a brother, Jessie Truitt and a granddaughter, Mrs. John (Cherie) Campbell of Kirksville.

He was preceded in death by two children, one who died in infancy and a daughter, Donna Jean Smith.

Mr. Truitt was a lifelong resident of Kirksville. He was employed at the shoe factory and was a maintenance man for the Kirksville Public Schools until his retirement in 1973. He was a member of the Free Will Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday (April 28, 1987) at the Davis-Playle Chapel with the Rev. Warren Hall officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hills cemetery.
