Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church for William Eutra "Dago" Mathis, who died at his home here June 1, 1963. Rev. Charles Miller officiated.

Born in Steele on April 12, 1907, Mr. Mathis was well known in the area as a restaurant owner. He operated the Oasis Restaurant here until shortly before his illness a few months ago.

He leaves his wife, Mrs. Carmen Mathis; his mother, Mrs. Pheobia Wisdom of Denton; and a brother, Cooper Mathis, of Steele.

Pallbearers were Cletus Bailey, Bun Campbell, James Pery, J. W. Rinehart, Isaac McKay and Virgil Hahs.

Honorary pallbearers were Jack Crawford, H.C. Brown, Leonard Limbaugh, Charles Bates, Floyd Smith, P.G. Morgan, G.E. West, Clarence Poteet, David Whitfield, Howard McCollum, Jerry Franklin, Jerry Jones, Jerry Lovelace, Tom Allbritton, Bill Wagner, Buck Whitfield, Murlon Utley, James Ashcraft, Ralph Hutchison, Donald Magee, T.A. Haggard, Beaumont Smith and Jerry Hamra.

Burial was at Mt. Zion Cemetery with John W. German Mt. Zion Chapel in charge of arrangements.
