Aquillia Wayne Mathis (Quillie) Mathis died at his home here February 12, 1963. He was born in Steele on March 5, 1906.
Mr Mathis was well known in this community, having been in the egg production business (at the Mathis Egg Factory) south of Steele on Highway 61) for several years.
Funeral service was from the Methodist Church last Thursday with Rev. Charles Miller officiating.
Burial was at Mt. Zion Cemetery with John W. German Mt. Zion Chapel in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers were Tom Burns, Ralph Ketchum, Cooper Mathis, J. B. German, Robert Nicholas, and Cecil Barnes.
Mr. Mathis leaves his wife, Mrs. Alberta Mathis of Steele; a son, James Mathis of Memphis; a brother, Addison Mathis of St. Louis; and a granddaughter.
