Funeral services were held Thursday for Little Oneta Lester, aged 2 1/2 years, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Lester, who live near Cooter.
The child had undergone a tonsillectomy at Memphis several weeks ago and was apparently getting along nicely when she suddenly became seriously ill and was taken back to Memphis Monday where she died at one of the hospitals Wednesday.
Rev. J.W. Cunningham of Steele conducted the funeral services at the Baptist Church in Cooter, Thursday, and interment was made in the Mt. Zion Cemetery.
She is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Lester, and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Holly.

Cooter, Mo.(Oct. 17) - Anita Louise, 2 1-2 year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Lester of this city, died yesterday (Wednesday) at 3:30 p.m. in the Isolation hospital in Memphis, where she had been taken Monday suffering from a severe attack of diphtheria. The baby was returned this afternoon at 2:30 at the Baptist church here, conducted by the Rev. J.W. Cunningham, pastor of the Steele Baptist church, with interment in Mt. Zion cemetery. The little ones illness dated from only last Saturday.
This was the only child of the young couple and she is survived by her parents and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Basil Lester and Mr. and Mrs. W.N. Holly, also her great-grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles R. Pierce of Caruthersville. In addition there are three aunts and two uncles survive, Mdmes. Hays Smith, Cletis Earls and Ollie Vines and Messrs. Byron and Buel Holly, all living in this part of the country.
