James Ernest Hillhouse, 64, farmer of Steele, Route 2, died Monday morning at Chickasawba Hospital in Blytheville following a lengthy illness.
Mr. Hillhouse had lived in this community for 27 years.
He was a charter member of the Oak Grove Baptist church and a veteran of World War I.
He leaves his wife, Mrs. Lorene Hillhouse; five sons, Hoye and Donald of Steele; Lewis of St. Louis and E.J. of Huntsville, Ala.; and Homer of Wilson, Ark.; three daughters, Mrs. Frances Cobb of East St. Louis, Mrs. Barbara Tittle of Memphis, and Mrs. Carolyn Gillette of Steele; one brother, Elvis Hillhouse of Mississippi; two sisters, Mrs. J.O. Edmonson and Mrs. Cora Belle Bates of Mississippi; and fifteen grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at Oak Grove Baptist church with Rev. Roy Baker and Rev. A.C. Gardener officiating.
Burial was at Mt. Zion Cemetery with German Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
