Shannon Wayne Overturf Jr., departed from this life on Friday, August 3 at Saint Frances Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Mo. at the age of 40 years old.
Shannon was born on October 27, 1972 in Blytheville, Ark. to Patsy Glydewel and Shannon Overturf, Sr.
Shannon was a lifetime resident of the Bootheel area and attended South Pemiscot Schools in Steele, Mo. He had several friends and even more that loved him like family. He was the type of guy who always made you smile regardless. If you ever came across him, you would never forget him. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed. He was a country boy at heart and loved pouring concrete. He definitely loved listening to music and spending time with his family.
Shannon leaves the following to cherish his memory, his father, Shannon Wayne Overturf Sr., mother Patsy Ellis and stepfather Lamar Ellis, wife Christena Overturf, five children, Brook Leal of Murray City, Tenn., Shannon Wayne Overturf III and his wife Jennifer Overturf of Caruthersville, Lynsey Stallings of Gosnell, Ark., Chance Overturf of Steele, Braylin and Kobi Gibson of Caruthersville, three grandchildren, Gabriel Leal and Santos Leal of Murray City, Peyton Overturf of Caruthersville and three step grandchildren, Elexus, Malarie and Kylie Walker, of Caruthersville, as well as numerous relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 7 at the John W. German Funeral Home of Steele with burial at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Steele.
Pallbearers were Shannon Wayne Overturf III, Terry Ferguson, Ryan Crane, Jason Tomlin, Steven Rash and Richard Glydewell.
John W. German Funeral Home of Steele was in charge of the services.
