Funeral services conducted by Rev. J.W. Cunningham were held Saturday afternoon at the Steele Baptist Church, for William Edward Vied, 70, who died Friday at his home. Burial was made in the Mount Zion cemetery with the German Undertaking Co. in charge.
Mr. Vied had been in ill health for some time but his condition was not thought to be critical. At the time of his death, the family was away from home and on their return home found him lying across the bed dead. Death was attributed to acute heart trouble.
Mr. Vied and family were living on the Howard DePriest farm near New Survey.
William Edward Vied was born March 9, 1866 and died August 21, 1936, age 70 years, 5 months and 12 days. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Retta Vied; five sons, Allie, Martin, Ode, Robert and Raymond; three daughters: Jessie, Gladys and Gertha; and nine grandchildren. He also leaves a brother, Drue Vied, a number of other relatives and a host of friends, who mourn his death.
