Shirley May McCaig, 60, died Thursday, May 18, 2000, at her residence in Steele.
She was born May 6, 1940 in Rives, the daughter of Vernon and Lillian Johnson Crawford.
She was employed as a cook at River Oaks Care Center in Steele. She was the widow of Jerry Lee McCaig, who preceded her in death on November 11, 1982.
Survivors include three sons, Dennis McCaig, Bruce McCaig and Scott McCaig, all of Steele; one daughter, Angie Crawford of Steele; three brothers, James Crawford and Dave Crawford, both of Steele, and Wesley Crawford of St. Charles, Mo.; two sisters, Georgia Crawford of Steele and Mary Shuberte of Florence, Ala.; eight grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
Services were held Saturday, May 20, 2000, at John W. German Funeral Home in Steele, with Rev. Jessie Morries officiating. Interment was in Mt. Zion Cemetery in Steele.
John W. German Funeral Home of Steele was in charge of services.

Funeral services for Jerry Lee McCaig, 44, were held Saturday, November 13, at 2:00 p.m. at The John W. German Funeral Home Chapel in Steele. Mr. Steven Murrell officiated.
Mr. McCaig was born October 14, 1938 in Crockett County, Tenn. and died November 11, 1982 at the Pemiscot County Memorial Hospital in Hayti. He was employed as a welder at Simmons Metal Works, Inc., of Blytheville. He also served on the Steele Fire Department.
The son of Mrs. Dorothy Day and the late James McCaig, he was united in marriage to Shirley Crawford in Kennett December 2, 1957.
Mr. McCaig leaves his wife, Shirley, of Steele; Three sons, Dennis, Bruce and Scott McCaig, all of the home; One daughter, Angie McCaig of Steele; His mother, Mrs. Dorothy Day of Paris, Tenn.; Three brothers, James Bennett McCaig of Wauchula, Fla., William Earl McCaig of Danville, Ark. and Charles Wayne McCaig of Yarbro, Ark.; and Four sisters, Mrs. Betty Jean Weaver of Paris, Tenn., Mrs. Dorothy Pearl Medlock of Paris, Mrs. Patsy Rose Cannon of Danville, and Mrs. Peggy Ann Morrow of Paris.
