Trafton Goodman, of Caruthersville, was born Sept. 16, 1943, in Caruthersville and passed away Dec. 4, 2013, at the Pemiscot Memorial Hospital. He was 70 years, 2 months and 18 days of age.
He was a loving husband and a member of the Nazarene Church in Caruthersville. He loved to drive to the river and just sit and talk to people who were there doing the same thing. He enjoyed gun collecting and target practice. He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He owned and managed Goodman's Grocery for 23 years. He also worked at Brown Shoe factory in Caruthersville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Mary Wilma Ethridge Goodman, and a brother, Calvin Goodman.
He leaves the following to cherish his memory: his wife, Shirley Kay Goodman of Caruthersville; his sisters, Mamie Meyer of Destin, Fla., and Shirley Frederickson and husband Bart of California; his nieces, Gloria Morgan of Destin and Carolyn Morgan of St. Louis; nephews, Calvin Whitbey of California, Jimmy Lee Whitbey and wife Sheryl and son James of Nashville, Tenn, David Goodman of Arizona and Kenley Goodman of Washington D.C., sisters-in-law, Marjorie Goodman, Carolyn Haynes of Heavener, Okla., Dottie Rice of Poplar Bluff and Mary and Ian Smith of Memphis; and a host of nieces, nephews and many friends
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6, at the John W. German Funeral Home in Hayti with Bro. Dave Lewelling officiating. Burial was in Mount Zion Cemetery in Steele. Pallbearers were family and friends.

Shirley Kay Goodman was born January 12, 1939 in Hayti and passed from this life on April 7, 2016 in Heavener, Oklahoma. She was 77 years, 2 months and 25 days of age.
Shirley worked as an x-ray technician at Pemiscot Memorial Hospital in Hayti until retirement. She was united to Trafton Goodman on November 29, 1968 in Caruthersville, MO.
She was preceded in death by her husband, father R.R. Smith, step-father Woodrow Laughter and her mother, Frances Turner Laughter.
She leaves the following to cherish her memory, her three sisters, Carolyn Haynes of Heavener, OK, Dottie Rice of Poplar Bluff, MO and Mary Smith of Memphis, Tn and a host of other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held Monday, April 11 at 11 a.m. in the John W. German Funeral Home Chapel in Hayti with Rev. Dennis Lemonds officiating. Burial was in the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Steele. Pallbearers were family and friends.
