Jerry Wayne Powell, 55, of Steele, died Monday, March 12, 2007, at his home.
Born August 27, 1940 in Pemiscot County, he is the son of Clifford Powell and the late Eddith Richardson Powell. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Roger Powell.
Jerry was united in marriage to Frances Hicks on November 3, 1958 in Kennett.
He was a farm manager for Haggard Farms for many years. He was an avid fisherman and he and his dad shared many hours together fishing.
He was a member of the Samford Church of Christ.
Mr. Powell leaves his wife, Frances Powell of the home; two sons: Greg Powell of Blytheville, Ark., and Roger Powell and his wife Wendy of Steele; one daughter, Kathy Willingham and her husband Rick, of Steele; his father, Clifford Powell of Steele; three brothers: Jackie Powell of Caruthersville, Randy Powell of Steele and Ricky Powell of Armorel, Ark.; and seven grandchildren: Crissy Markas and her husband Mike, Amber Powers and her husband Kelle, Tori Powell, Josh Powell, Patrick and Noah Willingham and Alexis Powell.
Funeral services for Mr. Powell were held at 2 p.m., Thursday, March 15 2007 at the Powell Funeral Home Chapel in Steele with Barry Sellers and Tim Howard officiating.
Burial was at the Mount Zion Cemetery in Steele.
Pallbearers were David Haggard, Rance Daniels, Bobby Ketchum, Carl Johnson, Steve Worrell and Gary Johns.
Honorary pallbearers were Seabe Wright, David Daniels, Dean Cole and Wally Scaife.
