Thursday, April 25, 1974:
Dewey Filbert Yarbrough died April 20, 1974 at the Chickasawba Hospital in Blytheville. He was born in Steele on October 30, 1905.
Services were conducted Monday, April 22, 1974, at the chapel of the German-Aumon Funeral Home of Steele with the Rev. James McCrary officiating.
The Yarbrough family was one of the first to settle in Steele. John Wesley Yarbrough, father of Dewey Yarbrough, was one of the original founders of the city and the Yarbrough name is seen today on several buildings in Steele.
Mr. Yarbrough was retired in recent years because of ill health. Family members for the past few years have operated the "Stand" adjacent to South Pemiscot Schools in Steele.
Mr. Yarbrough was a 32nd Degree Mason, a Shriner, and a member of the Missouri National Guard, Caruthersville.
Mr. Yarbrough leaves his widow, Lorene Yarbrough; three daughters: Gloria Frederick of Elm Grove, Wisconsin, Ginger Crews of Little Rock and Judy Smith of Steele; three sons: John Yarbrough of Memphis, Paul Yarbrough and Ronnie Yarbrough, both of Steele; one sister, Eva Gravett of Caruthersville and 14 grandchildren.
Interment was in Mt. Zion Cemetery at Steele with the German-Aumon Funeral Home of Steele in charge.
Pallbearers were B. H. Shielly, Homer Alexander, Willie D. McDaniel, Vernon crews, Harry Burton, Jr., and Raymond Hoskins.

Steele Enterprise - Steele, Missouri - January 27, 1983:
Funeral services for Mrs. Lorene Yarbrough were held Saturday, January 22, at the First Baptist Church in Steele. Rev. Bill Skinner and Rev. David Hart officiated.
Mrs. Yarbrough was born May 24, 1905, in Cerro Gordo, Tennessee, and died January 19, 1983, at the Baptist Hospital in Memphis at the age of 77. Her husband, Dewey Yarbrough, preceded her in death April 20, 1974.
She leaves three daughters, Gloria Frederick, of Elm Grove, Wisconsin, Ginger Crews of Little Rock, Arkansas, and Judy Smith of Steele; Three sons, Paul Yarbrough of Steele, John Yarbrough of Carrollton, Texas, and Ronnie Yarbrough of Steele; One sister, Mrs. Eunie Campbell of Steele; Two brothers, Morris Turner of Steele and Parker Turner of Spring Lake, Michigan; and Sixteen grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Jessie Edwards, George Cooke, Jesse Carter, G.W. Poole, Thelbert Bishop, and Home Alexander.
Burial was in the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Steele with the German-Aumon Funeral Home of Steele in charge of arrangements.
