SGT. DALE DEAN
Funeral services for Sgt. Dale Dean who was killed on D-Day June 6, 1944, in Normandy will be at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon in the high school auditorium at Hurley with the Rev. D. S. Frazier of Clever officiating. Burial will be in Short cemetery near Hurley under the direction of Maples of Clever. The American Legion post at Crane will have charge of military rites at the grave.
Sergeant Dean served in the Army for two years before the war began and was a member of Company C, 506th Parachute Infantry group at the time of his death. He attended Hurley High school. Survivors include his father, L. M. Dean of Hurley, two brothers, Albert of Hurley and Maj. James T. Dean now stationed at Washington, and four sisters, Mrs. Ora Wilson of Studley, Kan, Mrs. Cecil Archibold of Nokomis, Ill., Mrs. Oleta Perry, of Joplin and Mrs. Ruth Deckard of Springfield.
