A lifelong resident of Stone Co., MO. Cleo was the son of George Washington Cavener and Sarah Jane Jackson Cavener.

Mabel Noveta Cavener, 91, Crane, Mo., passed away at 11:35 a.m. at her daughter's home on Friday, January 12, 2007. Mabel was born February 2, 1915, in Crane, Mo., the daughter of Jesse Thomas and Sarah Ann (Gipson) Martin. She was united in marriage to Cleo Webster Cavener on April 27, 1933, who preceded her in death in 1985. Mabel was brought up in the Assembly of God faith at a very young age. She enjoyed reading her Bible and did so up until her eyesight would not allow her to read. She was a homemaker and loved her flower gardens and the outdoors. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse Thomas and Sarah Ann Martin; two sons, Jerry and Bill Cavener; one daughter, Julie Cavener; six brothers, Efton, Warner, Otis, Link, Jesse and Emous Martin; and four sisters, Clara Belle Martin, Lula Cunningham, Arlene Livingston, and Della Sanders. Mabel is survived by five sons, Dale and wife, Louise, Springfield, Mo., Ray and wife, Sandra, Crane, Mo., Denzel and wife, Pat, Crane, Mo., Tom and wife, Janet, Springfield, Mo., and Jim and wife, Judy, Crane, Mo.; three daughters, Marjorie Cavener, Springfield, Mo., Shirley Shoemaker and husband, Denny, Aurora, Mo., and Linda Crowe and husband, Larry, Fordland, Mo.; one daughter-in-law, Phyllis Cavener, Republic, Mo.; one brother, Vernon and wife, Mildred Martin, Republic, Mo.; 22 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; and a host of nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, January 16, at the Meadors Funeral Home, Republic, Mo. Funeral services will be Wednesday, January 17, at 11 a.m. at Morning Star Baptist Church, north of Crane, Mo., with Rev. Gary Stewart officiating. Burial will be at the Oak Grove Cemetery. The family wishes to thank the Community Hospices of America staff and a special thanks to Stephanie Scott for making their mother's passing comfortable and assisting the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice of America or to the charity of the donor's choice.
