Elmer I. Fields, 88 went to visit his Lord on Wednesday October 2, 2019. He is survived by his daughter Paula Bucher, who was by his bedside when he passed. He is also survived by three step-sons who he was very close to, Duane Highly, Gary Highly and Jeff Highly.

Elmer was a Korean war veteran and proud Marine. He was also an active member of the National Guard and Army Reserve. He retired as a Correctional Officer from the Federal Medical Center. From early childhood, Elmer developed a passion for horses, and worked as a stable boy at Lee McDaniel Stables. As his passion grew, his family became actively involved in the horse show circuit in Springfield, Missouri with the Good Samaritan Charity Horse Show and he was Show Manager for many years at the Greater Ozarks Charity Horse Show. Then he went on to the American Royal and worked closely with them. He became Paddock Manager with the American Royal. He received numerous awards from the American Royal Association for his work in the Horse Show Community and was loved and respected by all.

He was a member of Crossway Baptist Church and was a Christian in every sense of the word. He was very involved in his church and loved being a part of it. He was always willing to help someone any way he could. He had a great sense of humor and could make you laugh very easily. He was a very good man who was loved and respected by many.

Mrs. Jerri Fields
Mrs. Jerri Fields, 49, of 2361 Valley Water Mill Road, died at 3:25 p.m. Friday in Cox Medical Center. A funeral home spokesman said an autopsy is scheduled for today.

Mrs. Fields participated in the Good Samaritan Horse Show.

Survivors include her husband, Elmer; two daughters, Paula J. and Elaine K., both of the home; a brother, Harold Means, Springfield; and three sisters, Mrs. Margaret Marshall, Springfield, Mrs. Sorothy Rams, Whittier, Calif., and Mrs. Robert Crawford, Branson.

Greenlawn Funeral Home North will announce services.

Services for Mrs. Jerri Fields, 49, of 2361 Valley Water Mill Road, will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Greenlawn Funeral Home North with the Rev. Bob Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery.

Mrs. Fields died at 3:25 p.m. Friday in Cox Medical Center after an extended illness.
