Lydia Myrtle Evans, 94, of Steele, died Sept. 6, 1993 at her home. Born Sept. 28, 1898, she was the daughter of Allen Franklin and Free Donnie Anderson Evans. A homemaker, she attended the Number Eight Community Church.
She is survived by three nieces whom she raised, Elizabeth Wilkins Brown of Springfield, Connie Wilkins Colley of Florence, Ala., and Bonnie Wilkins Crawford of Manchester, Mo.;
And three sisters, Tommie Evans and Ramell Lawler, both of Steele, and Eunice Jenkins of Bertrand.
She was preceded in death by a niece, Adleen Wilkins Haynes; three brothers, Earl, Elmer and Henry Evans; and two sisters, Verna Wilkins and Jeraldine Evans.
Services were Sept. 10 at 1 p.m. at Bradshaw's German-Aumon Funeral Home chapel in Steele, the Rev. Dennis West and the Rev. Grady Evans officiating, with burial in Mitchell's Number Eight Cemetery near Cooter.

Miss Tommie Lucille Evans, 94, of rural Cooter, Mo., died of natural causes Saturday, April 8, 1995, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Blytheville, Ark.
Born Sunday, August 5, 1900, at Lexington, Tenn., she was a daughter of the late Allen Franklin Evans and Donie Free Anderson Evans.
Three brothers: Earl Evans, Elmer Evans, and Henry Evans; four sisters; Myrtle Evans, Verna Wilkins, Eunice Jenkins, and Geraldine Evans; and one niece, Adleen Haynes, also preceded her in death.
A member of the Cooter Methodist Church, Miss Evans also was a member of the Number Eight Sewing and Quilting Club, a homemaker, and retired farmer.
She reared four nieces, Elizabeth Wilkins Bryant of Springfield, Mo., Connie Wilkins Colley of Corvallis, Oregon, Bonnie Wilkins Crawford of Manchester, Mo., and Adleen Wilkins Haynes.
Miss Evans leaves one sister, Ramell Lawler, of Cooter; and Three nieces: Connie Colley of Corvallis, Bonnie Crawford of manchester, and Elizabeth Bryant of Springfield.
Funeral services for Miss Evans were held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 11, 1995, at Bradshaw Funeral Home in Steele, Mo. with Rev Grady Evans officiating.
Burial was at Mitchell Number Eight Cemetery in Cooter, with arrangements by Bradshaw Funeral Home of Steele.
Pallbearers were Kevin Haynes, Keith Haynes, Brian Crawford, David Jenkins, Carl Cliftonm and Lee Clifton.
