This community was very much shocked Saturday by the accidental death of little Peggy Doll Pate Greene, aged 6 1/2. A stick of piling had been placed on the concrete foundation from which the Greenway Gin scales had recently been moved. Several children were playing on the log when it accidentally rolled off the foundation, pinning Peggy to the ground, killing her instantly.
Funeral services were held Sunday at 2 o'clock at the Baptist church, where Peggy attended Sunday School regularly. Miss Leugenia Young, her school teacher, preached her funeral and burial was in the Cooter cemetery.
She is survived by two small brothers, her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Greene, who are her adopted parents, and many other relatives.
