Hugh A. Green, 77, of Steele, Mo., died Wednesday, April 17, 2002, at the Baptist East Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.

Born January 27, 1925 in Trumann, Ark., he was the son of the late Dick Green and Pearlie Morrow Green.

He was also preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Voila Green and a great-nephew, Franklin Alan McArthur, Jr.

Mr. Green was a retired truck driver and of the Baptist faith.

He served in the United States Army during World War II as a Staff Sergeant and received an American Theatre Ribbon, European African Middle Eastern Theatre Ribbon, three Bronze Stars, a Good Conduct Medal, two Overseas Bars, World War II Victory Medal Pin, and an Award for Patriotic Services.

Mr. Green leaves his wife, Qutah Green, of Steele; one step-son, Dennis Rash, of Steele; one sister, Lucille McArthur and her husband Wayne of Steele; one brother: Franklin Green of Huntington, Texas; five nieces and two nephews and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mr. Green were held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 19, 2002, at the John W. German Funeral Home Chapel in Steele with Bro. Jim Mousie officiating.

Burial was at the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Steele in charge.
