Funeral services for Mr. Ralph Griggs, 62, were held Monday, October 15, 1984, at the John W. German Funeral Home in Steele. Bro Terry Watson of Blytheville officiated.

Mr. Griggs was born August 15, 1922, in Steele and died October 12, 1984, at University Hospital in Columbia. He was the son of the late John E. Griggs and Tommie Young Griggs.

He was employed by Pemiscot County as a road maintenance operator until his retirement. He was united in marriage to Lois Kackley in 1947 at Osceola.

One son, Jeffrey Earl, preceded him in death in 1975.

He leaves his wife, Mrs. Lois Griggs, of Steele; five sons: Floyd, Randy, Michael, Richard and Stephen Griggs, all of Steele; two daughters: Mrs. Brenda Burnett and Miss Patricia Griggs, both of Steele; three brothers: Ocie Griggs of Steele; Jess Griggs of South Haven, Mich.; and Thomas Griggs of Buckeye, Ariz.; one sister, Mrs. Thelma Davis, of Steele; eight grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, and three step-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were James Curtis, James Farris, Alton McDonald, Donny Thorne, Steve Jones and Kenny Ferrell.

Burial was in the Mt. Zion Cemetery near Steele with John W. German Funeral Home of Steele in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Lois Wearline Griggs, 69, died Wednesday, June 17, 1998 at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett, Mo.

Born August 14, 1928 at Monette, Ark. she is the daughter of Margaret Lula Cowan Kackley and the late Frank Kackley.

Lois was united in marriage to Ralph Griggs September 20, 1947 at Osceola, Ark. He preceded her in death October 12, 1984. She was also preceded in death by two sons: Floyd and Jeff; two brothers, and two sisters.

She was employed as a seamstress at the Steele Apparel until it closed.

Mrs. Griggs leaves four sons: Randy, Michael, Ricky and Steve Griggs, all of Steele; her mother, Mrs. Margaret Kackley of Elgin, Ill.; two daughters: Brenda Burnett of Cooter, Mo.; and Patty Helm of Belvedere, Ill.; four sisters: Sue Crawford of Hornersville, Mo., Janie Lanier of Clarence, Ala.; Ann Brandon of Elgin, Ill., and Betty Farley of Fairview, W.Va.; and five brothers: Jim Kackley of Elgin, Tony Kackley of Rives, Mo., Monte Kackley of Portsville, Calif., Larry Kackley of Union, Ill., and David Kackley of Carpentersville, Ill.

Funeral services for Mrs. Griggs were held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 19, 1998 at the John W. German Funeral Home in Steele with Brother Charles Clark officiating.

Burial was at the Mt. Zion Cemetery with John W. German Funeral Home of Steele in charge.

Pallbearers were Glen Griggs, David Wright, Joe Lacey, David Davis, Dwight Davis, and Ray Kackley.
