Raymond Ray Sigman, first of five sons of the late Carl Sigman and Easter Odle Sigman, was born at Simmons, Missouri July 3, 1927. He passed away in Springfield, Missouri, March 9, 1995 at the age of 67 years, eight months and six days. He had been seriously ill for the past few weeks. After attending school, he joined the U.S. Navy, later receiving his discharge. He then joined the U.S. Army where he served until his discharge in 1952.
He was married to Helen Rossow on December 14, 1946. She preceded him in death in 1988. On February 4, 1991 he was married to Vera Faye Elliott. Raymond was a lifelong resident of the Cabool, Missouri area and for many years was employed at Mid-American Darirymen. He then worked for Brown Shoe Company for over 18 years as an inspector. More recently he had worked at Woodpro Cabinetry.
He was a well-known person, always friendly to others and cared for his family and neighbors who will miss him.
He and Vera lived in the Simmons community and some while back he had made a profession of faith in the Lord and united with Simmons Baptist Church. Besides his parents and Helen, he has been preceded by a brother, Gene, in 1994.
He leaves his widow, Vera Faye, four sons, Gary Martin of South Beloit, Illinois, Carl Sigman of Medford, Oregon, Claud Sigman of Lynnwood, Washington and Jimmy of Houston, Missouri, a stepson, James Elliott, of South Beloit, Illinois, a stepdaughter, Kim Vaade of Beloit, Wisconsin; three brothers, Vernon, Ronnnie, and Norman all of Cabool; his step mother, Nellie Lou Sigman, of Cabool, 16 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends who will miss him. Funeral services were 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 13, 1995 in Simmons Baptist Church with Rev. Kurtis Simmons officiating. Burial was in Cabool Cemetery under direction of Elliott-Gentry Funeral Home. Military graveside rites were conducted by VFW Post #473 of Cabool.

Vera Faye Elliott Sigman, 76, daughter of Grover and Cora Davis Martin, was born June 19, 1928, at Morris, Okla. She died April 28, 2005, at the home of her son at Greenfield, after a long battle with cancer.
She graduated from Houston High School in 1946 and married Lee Elliott that same year. They moved to South Beloit, Ill., in 1951.
In 1990, she moved back to Cabool and married Raymond Sigman.
Mrs. Sigman worked at Beloit Memorial Hospital for several years and later for Mayuga Medical Clinic in Cabool.
She was of the Baptist faith and attended Faith Fellowship Community Church in Cabool.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Lee and Raymond; one son, Richard Elliott; one sister, five brothers, one grandchild and one great-great-grandchild.
Surviving are her sons, Gary Martin Sr. of Greenfield and James Elliott of Machesney Park, Ill.; one daughter, Kim Williams of Beloit, Wis.; stepsons, Carl Sigman of Greenfield, Claude Sigman of Washington and James Sigman of Cabool; brother, Obbie "Bobbi" Martin of Batesville, Ark.; sisters, Veda Mead and Jean Kenneman of South Beloit, Ill.; 16 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.
Memorial services were May 2 at the Elliott-Gentry-Carder Funeral Home Chapel. Following cremation, burial will be at a later date in the Cabool Cemetery.
