Danna Gail Smith, 70 of Cabool, MO passed away peacefully at Barnes Jewish Hospital on Sunday, January 10, 2021. She was born on May 3, 1950 in Inglewood, California the daughter of Alfred and Helen Rose (Housley) Arthurs.
Danna was a devoted mother and grandmother; she spent her entire life caring for others. She was the sole caregiver of her niece, Shirley since her sisters passing. She loved to spend her time online shopping and collecting jewelry. She loved spending her weekends playing with her great grandchildren, Kaylee and Jett.
Danna was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Helen Arthurs of California; her husband, William Smith of Cabool; a son, Fredrick Smith of California and one sister, Cheryl Staiger of California. She is survived by her loving son, Bill Smith of Cabool; grandson, Michael Smith of Willard, MO; granddaughter, Alyssa Boyd and Brett Boyd of Mtn. Grove, MO; a sister, Helen Roy and Bobby of California and two great grandchildren, Kaylee and Jett Boyd whom she adored.
William Leroy Smith departed this life on September 17, 2009 at his home in Cabool, Missouri, at the age of 66 years and seven months.
He was born on February 17, 1943 in Lennox, California, the son of William Loyd Smith I and Iva (Nobail) Smith.
William enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1960 at the age of 17. He served 18 months in Vietnam and was honorably discharged after four years of service.
He was united in marriage to Danna Gail Arthurs on November 6, 1965, and to this union two sons were born, William Loyd II and Frederick Michael.
He was a private pilot and had a love for aviation; anything you wanted to know about airplanes, he could tell you. He especially enjoyed the annual trips to air shows with his son, Bill, and the summer vacations with his grandchildren.
William was preceded in death by his parents; a very special son, Frederick Michael; two sisters; and one brother.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Danna of the home; a niece, Shirley Ann of the home; his son, Bill and wife Terri of Cabool; his grandchildren, Michael David and Alyssa Dawn of Cabool; a great-granddaughter, Kaylee Rayne of Cabool; a sister, Charlette Smith of Texas; his lifelong friend, Howard Jarvis of California; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, September 21, 2009, at Cabool Cemetery with Bro. David Purichia officiating. Pallbearers were Bill Smith, Michael Smith, Ronnie Stark, Darin Stark, Eddy Noll and Bro. David Purichia.
Services were under the direction of Elliott-Gentry-Carder Funeral Home of Cabool.
