Funeral services for Ruth Mae Smith, 92, West Plains, will be at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, October 23, 2011 at United Freewill Baptist Church under the direction of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
Mrs. Smith died at 3:30 a.m., Thursday, October 20, 2011, at South Fork Therapy and Living Center, Salem, Arkansas. She was born March 26, 1919 at West Plains, Missouri, to Homer and Amy Freeman Crick. On April 10, 1936, she was married at West Plains, Missouri, to Noel Washington Smith, who preceded her in death January 8, 2003. Before her retirement, Mrs. Smith was a partner in Smith Oil Company. Mrs. Smith attended United Freewill Baptist Church, West Plains, Missouri. She had been a Sunday School Teacher, Choir Member and active in Ladies Groups. Mrs. Smith was a devoted and loving Wife, Mother and Grandmother.
She is survived by four children, Marilyn Hurley, husband, Leland Hurley, Sr., Rivesville, West Virginia, Jack Smith, wife, Bernita, Galesburg, Illinois, Gary H. Smith, wife, Joyce, West Plains and Michael W. Smith, wife, Janice, Livingston, Texas; six grandchildren, Leland Hurley, Jr., wife, Corey, Rick Smith, wife, Jacqueline, Debbie Hall, husband, Jerry, Mike Hertenstine, wife, Jane, Susan Reese, husband, John, and Reverend Matthew Smith, wife Erica; eight great-grandchildren, Ben Jacobs, wife, Betsy, Bryan Jacobs, Grace Hertenstine, Alex Hurley, Ayden Hurley, Brianna Smith, Patrick Smith and Emily Smith; five great-great-grandchildren, Jake Jacobs, Austin Jacobs, Jackson Jacobs, Andrew Jacobs and Abby Jacobs and several nieces and nephews.
Her parents, husband, one granddaughter, Cindy Hurley Backues, one brother, Noel Crick, three sisters, Dorothy Rummler, Rosalie Anstine and Vivian Adams, precede her in death.
Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., Saturday, October 22, 2011 at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Howell Memorial Park Cemetery.
