Mr. Billy Joe Vaughn,76, of Kennett, Mo., formerly of Steele, passed away Sunday, May 12, 2013 at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett. He was born October 11, 1936 in Deering, Mo., to Authur and Octie Yarbrough Vaughn. His parents preceded him in death.
Mr. Vaughn was united in marriage to Shirley Ann Prestage in Steele. She also preceded him in death as did a sister, Velda Vaughn, and a brother, Bobby Gene Vaughn.
Survivors include daughters: Deborah Wimberley and her husband, David, of Dyersburg, Tenn., and Angela Vaughn of Kennett; sons include Kenneth Vaughn and his wife, Joanie, of Dyersburg; Randy Vaughn of Kennett; and Stephen Vaughn and his wife Melinda, of Kennett.
Mr. Vaughn also leaves granddaughters Sara Vaughn, Grace Vaughn, Shawnia Burkeen, Amy Wimberley, Crystal Vaughn, Erica Vaughn, Ashley Nicole King and grandsons Chad Metheny, Jacob Vaughn, Kendall Burkeen, Kenneth Vaughn, Jr., Christopher Vaughn, Ronnie James Crawford, Hank Allen Crawford and Terry Joe Barham.
Services were conducted Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at the John W. German Funeral Home Chapel in Steele with Mr. Johnny Bogel officiating. Burial followed at Mount Zion Cemetery in Steele.
Pallbearers were Ronnie Crawford, Hank Crawford, Hank Crawford, Kendall Wimberley, Dillon Ferrell, Drake Ferrell and David Wimberley.
John w. German Funeral Home of Steele was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Shirley Vaughn, 50, of Steele, died May 15, 1991 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Blytheville. Born June 8, 1940 in Tupelo, Miss., she was the daughter of the late James Prestus and the late Clytee Forbus Ledbetter. She was employed at Tipton Box Co. in Caruthersville until she became ill.
She is survived by her husband, Billy J. Vaughn of Steele; Three sons, Kenneth Vaughn of Caruthersville, Randy Vaughn of Pacific and Steven Vaughn of Steele; Two daughters, Mrs. Debra Wimberley of Caruthersville and Mrs. Angelia Crawford of Steele; Two brothers, Ronnie Prestage of Mentachie, Miss. and L.C. Prestage of Hatley, Miss.; Three sisters, Mrs. Sharon VanDyke of Steele, Mrs. Judy Turner of Mantachie and Mrs. Connie Kirk of Tupelo; And 10 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Billy Ledbetter.
Services were May 17 at John W. German Funeral Home chapel in Steele, Sherrel Jetton officiating, with burial at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Steele.
