Eunice (White) Adams, a resident of Willow Springs, passed away early Wednesday morning while at Willow Care Nursing Home. Born December 27, 1931 in Twin Bridges to Allman and Bertha (Bunch) White, she was 86 years old.
Eunice grew up in the Twin Bridges area and attended elementary school at Round Top Grade School. Upon her graduation from Willow Springs High School, she enjoyed working as a secretary for the Howell County Prosecuting Attorney for a couple of years. On November 21, 1953 she was married to Harold D. Adams at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Willow Springs. She and Harold were members of Sacred Heart and she became very active in the Ladies Guild. Eunice was involved in helping Harold raise turkeys as well as other aspects of farming. She loved to garden, knit, and read, but one of her favorite past-times was to sit with her feet in the creek. She especially loved to spend time with her grandchildren.
Mrs. Adams is preceded in death by a son, Robert Adams; her parents; a brother, Fred White; four sisters, Grace Elliott, Beulah Elliott, Lena Maynard, and Jo Morris.
She is survived by her husband, Harold of 65 years; son, Clay Adams and his wife, Barb of Willow Springs; son, Mark Adams and his wife, Laury, also of Willow Springs; daughter, Teresa Roberts and her husband, Bill of Oak Grove, MO; daughter, Annette Chaney and her husband, Mike of Willow Springs; and son, Jesse Adams of Springfield, MO. She is further survived by her brother, Tom White of Twin Bridges; 13 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
The Rosary will be recited Friday, November 2, 2018 at Willow Funeral Home LLC at 6:00 P.M. Visitation will follow at 6:30 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. The Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, November 3, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Sherman Wall officiating. Interment will follow at the Willow Springs City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Willow Springs Scholarship Club or St. Jude’s Children Hospital and may be left at the funeral home. Harold D. Adams, a resident of Willow Springs, passed away November 29, 2018 while at Willow Care Nursing Home. Born July 15, 1927 in Pipestone, MN, the son of Leo G. and Marie (Hoek) Adams, he was 91 years old.
When Harold was a young child, his family moved and settled in the Willow Springs, MO area. He graduated from Willow Springs High School and joined the Merchant Marines upon graduation. Harold spent six years in the Merchant Marines, transporting cargo to ports throughout the world. This allowed him to experience many different countries and cultures which he enjoyed and valued. Harold was drafted into the U.S. Army and served two years in Germany with the U.S. Peacekeeping Forces after World War II. After his military service, Harold visited his family in Willow Springs with the intent to return to sea, but his plans changed when he met Eunice White. Harold and Eunice were married November 21, 1953 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church and they spent 65 years together building a life and raising a family. Harold was a successful businessman in Willow Springs, owning and operating a variety of businesses, until becoming a full-time farmer. Harold and Eunice raised turkeys commercially along with beef cattle for many years. In later years, Harold could be spotted driving his water truck all around the area to provide water to cisterns and swimming pools. Harold lived life on his own terms.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Eunice; a son, Robert Adams; his parents; brothers, Willard Adams, Lester Adams, and Elmer Adams, and one sister, Geneva Erbe.
He is survived by five children; Clay Adams and his wife, Barb of Willow Springs; Mark Adams and his wife, Laury of Willow Springs; Teresa Roberts and her husband, Bill of Oak Grove, MO; Annette Chaney and her husband, Mike of Willow Springs, and Jesse Adams also of Willow Springs. He is further survived by 13 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
The Rosary will be recited Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at 5:30 P.M. at Willow Funeral Home, LLC. Visitation will follow from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. The Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Sherman Wall officiating. Interment will follow at the Willow Springs City Cemetery with full military honors. Arrangements are under the direction of Willow Funeral Home, LLC.
